What determines the price of cleaning your rug
Area rug cleaning is quoted per rug, not from a fixed rate card. The price is built from eight factors: measured size, fibre, construction, condition, contamination, any specialty treatment, fringe work, and pickup and delivery logistics. Send photos and dimensions and we will give you a preliminary figure; the final price is confirmed after in-person inspection, before any cleaning starts.
The eight pricing factors

Why identical-looking rugs cost different amounts
Consider two 8×10 rugs. The first is a machine-woven polypropylene rug from a big-box retailer: stable dyes, synthetic fibre, dries quickly, no contamination. The second is a hand-knotted wool rug with vegetable-dyed reds that test unstable, cotton warp fringe that has yellowed, and two areas of dog urine that reached the foundation eighteen months ago.
Same footprint, different jobs. The second rug requires dye stabilisation, a modified wash method, separate urine flushing, hand fringe work and roughly double the controlled drying time. Charging both the same square-foot rate would mean either overcharging the first customer or cutting corners on the second.
How to get an accurate number quickly
The more accurate your information, the closer the preliminary estimate lands to the final price. Send:
- Dimensions in feet or metres — measured, not guessed
- A photo of the whole rug taken from above
- A photo of the back of the rug (this tells us the construction)
- Close-ups of the fringe or bound edges
- Close-ups of any stains, wear or damage
- Whether there has been pet contamination, flooding or a previous cleaning attempt
- Your city, so we can tell you the next route day

Pricing questions
- Why don't you publish a price per square foot?
- Because a single rate would either overcharge simple rugs or undercharge complex ones. Two rugs of identical size can differ by fibre, construction, contamination and drying requirement. We measure and assess, then quote.
- Is the estimate binding?
- A photo or phone estimate is preliminary. Once the rug is measured and inspected in person, we confirm the price before cleaning begins. If inspection changes the number, you hear about it before we proceed, not after.
- Do you charge for pickup and delivery?
- Door-to-door transport is included at no charge within Chilliwack. Outside Chilliwack a flat round-trip transport fee covers our travel time and fuel: $55 for Abbotsford, Agassiz and Harrison, $75 for Mission and Hope, $95 for Langley. The fee is flat because collections are batched onto scheduled route days.
- Do you charge extra for pet urine?
- Yes, when decontamination work is required. Urine treatment adds flushing, dwell time, additional rinsing and extended drying — that is real labour and facility time, so it is priced separately from standard cleaning.
- What if the rug turns out to be worse than the photos showed?
- We contact you with photos of what we found and a revised figure before doing the work. You can decline and we return the rug.
- Is there a minimum charge?
- Yes — there is a practical minimum for handling, inspection, cleaning and drying any rug, however small. Call or text for the current figure; we quote it up front rather than publishing a number that may change.
- Do you offer a discount for multiple rugs?
- Multiple rugs collected in one pickup reduce logistics time, and we factor that into the quote. Ask when you request your estimate.
