    Why rugs are different

An area rug is not carpet with edges

Wall-to-wall carpet is one fibre system, glued or stretched over a subfloor, cleaned in place. An area rug is a constructed textile: a foundation of cotton or wool warp and weft, a pile of a different fibre, dyes that may or may not be stable in water, and often a backing or sizing. Cleaning it correctly starts with identifying what it actually is.

How construction and fibre change the cleaning decision.
VariableWhy it mattersWhat we do about it
FibreWool and silk are protein fibres damaged by high pH and heat. Cotton, jute and sisal are cellulosic and prone to browning. Synthetics tolerate more.Fibre identification before any solution is chosen.
DyesHand-dyed and some synthetic dyes migrate when wet, which shows as bleeding into adjacent light areas.Colourfastness testing on every colour, every time.
ConstructionHand-knotted, tufted, flatwoven and machine-made rugs behave differently under water and agitation. Latex-tufted rugs can delaminate.Construction is assessed and documented at intake.
ConditionDry rot, moth damage, prior repairs and pet contamination all change what is safe.Front and back inspection with photos before work begins.
DryingSlow, uneven drying causes browning, odour and dye migration.Controlled airflow and dehumidification, not ambient air.

    How we clean

    Eight documented steps, every rug

The sequence does not change. What changes inside it is the cleaning method, chosen after fibre identification and dye testing.

    1. Inspection & Documentation

Front and back photo inspection before anything begins. Fibre type, construction, wear points, prior repairs, stains and odour sources are all logged so expectations are set before work starts.

    2. Fibre & Dye Testing

We identify the fibre and test dyes for colourfastness before moisture is applied. Dye bleed risk determines the cleaning method — this step decides everything that follows.

    3. Dry Soil Removal

Dry particulate soil is removed first. Wet cleaning over embedded grit turns it into mud and drives it deeper into the foundation.

    4. Appropriate Cleaning Method

Depending on fibre, construction and dye stability: full immersion wash, controlled surface wash, or low-moisture cleaning. There is no single method that suits every rug.

    5. Rinse & Extraction

Thorough rinsing removes suspended soil and cleaning residue. Residue left in a rug re-attracts soil quickly, so extraction is taken to completion.

    6. Controlled Drying

Rugs are dried with managed airflow and dehumidification. Slow or uneven drying is a leading cause of browning, odour and dye migration.

    7. Final Inspection

Post-clean assessment compared against the original documentation, including grooming, fringe finishing where appropriate, and a check of every treated area.

    8. Wrapped & Delivered

The rug is wrapped, protected and returned to your door within our service area, with any follow-up care notes.

    Certification

    Trained, tested and accountable

Darren Miller holds the IICRC Master Textile Cleaner designation from the IICRC, along with IICRC Master Water Restorer and IICRC Master Fire & Smoke Restorer designations from his restoration work. Certification is not a guarantee of any specific outcome on any specific rug — it means the person handling your textile has been examined against an industry standard and keeps that credential current.

    What the designation means
    Plain answer

Who: iRPro Rugs, locally owned in Chilliwack, BC.

What: specialized area rug cleaning — we do not present ourselves as a carpet or hard-surface cleaning company.

Where: Chilliwack and selected Fraser Valley communities, with door-to-door transport — included in Chilliwack, flat round-trip fee outside it.

Next step: call or text 604-799-9985, or send photos for an estimate.

    Pricing

    Quoted per rug, never guessed

We do not publish a fixed rate card, because a 5×8 machine-made synthetic rug and a 9×12 hand-knotted wool rug with pet contamination are not the same job. Price is built from measured size, fibre, construction, condition, contamination, any specialty treatment, fringe work and pickup logistics.

    What Fraser Valley clients say

Reviews shown here are reproduced from public Google reviews of iRPro.

I actually learned about Darren through a competitor — they explained they wouldn't do the job, but insisted 'Darren is the guy. Nobody is as good as him, despite what they may think.' He has a vast wealth of knowledge, was so kind, and seemed genuinely excited to be given the opportunity to restore this thing to its former glory.
    Kevin McMillanGoogle review
Both area rugs were badly soiled, and after cleaning they were returned in perfect condition — one being wool and the other sisal. Darren was amazing to work with and his pride in his company and attention to detail made this experience worth more than the 5 stars I am able to give him!

Darren and his team restored an antique wool area rug that had been in storage for years and was heavily soiled. The rug now looks almost new. I am very pleased with the result and would recommend iRPro to anyone looking for a quality cleaning service.

    Common questions

Do you clean anything other than area rugs?
Area rugs are our specialization. If your enquiry is about wall-to-wall carpet or hard surfaces, call us and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right fit.
    Are you based in Chilliwack?
Yes. iRPro Rugs is locally owned and operated in Chilliwack, and we serve communities across the Fraser Valley.
    How long does cleaning take?
Typical turnaround is 5–8 business days from pickup to delivery, depending on the rug and our volume at the time of booking. Heavily soiled rugs, natural fibres and rugs needing extended drying can take longer — we tell you at pickup if we expect that.
Do you offer pickup and delivery?
Yes — we call it door-to-door transport. Door-to-door transport is included at no charge in Chilliwack. Outside Chilliwack, a flat round-trip transport fee applies, covering travel time and fuel. Outlying communities are collected on scheduled route days. Chilliwack $0, Abbotsford / Agassiz & Harrison $55, Mission / Hope $75, Langley $95, round trip.
Can you guarantee every stain will come out?
No, and we won't pretend otherwise. Some stains are dye loss or permanent fibre damage rather than soil. We assess before cleaning and tell you what is realistic.
    What is your guarantee?
We offer a 60-day satisfaction guarantee on our cleaning. If something was missed, contact us within 60 days and we will address it.
